One Skein Wonders

Have you missed me?  I know I have been MIA for quite some time now, or at least over here on the crafty side of things I have been anyway.  (Now if you are a reader and are following my Book Review 4 U 2 blog, we have seen quite a bit of each other lately.)  To be honest I have had so many UFO's that I have been playing catch up.  Not this kind of UFO:

but this find of UFO:

(my own UnFinished Objects basket)

The blue project is the Mosey legwarmer pattern I am working on for H.  The reddish project is one of those beard hats for Mr. Sunflowers, until he changed his mind about which design he wanted, leaving me to wing it as I go!  The doll is called the Pandora doll.  I hate to admit but I started her a year ago, intending for her to become this year's Elf on the Shelf.  Maybe next year!  I just haven't really felt crafty lately.

That isn't to say I haven't been crafty.  Princess and I were making something daily to go along with our The Truth in the Tinsel lessons.  What is better than glue, glitter, gems, crayons, and feathers?  With all that who has time to pick up the needles and hooks?  Not me, I thought.  Until.......

I was given the opportunity to explore and review Crochet One-Skein Wonders: 101 Projects from Crocheters around the World.

I had never browsed a one-skein wonders book before (WHY didn't you tell me about them!!).  I was surprised at all of the projects and the variety of projects it contained.  Patterns for thread, lace, super-fine, fine, light ww, medium ww, and bulky.  Cowls, mittens, purses, toys, hats, headbands, gloves, placemats, hats, and even a SUNFLOWER PILLOW!!  I am in love with this book!

So I pulled out my hook, frogged one of my UFO's ( a cowl I just couldn't get into using Patons lace yarn) and started on a project.  The Bristleberry Scarf.  Not a complicated pattern, and definitely one I was able to sit and do while watching tv once I got the pattern down.  But the results are awesome.  I had a friend asking me about it the first time I wore it!

Here is a close up of the pattern:

Beautiful design and SOOO easy to do.  It's just chains and single crochets.  And to be honest, there are a LOT more patterns in this book that have been added to my to do list.  And as I post this, Amazon has it for a preorder price of only $11.50!

So that is what I have been up to.  What is on your hooks and needles now that Christmas is over?

Until next time,
